About CinSUG

The Greater Cincinnati, Ohio Area SAS Users Group strives to draw together and serve all SAS users in the Greater Cincinnati Area by providing opportunities for members to help each other and to learn about SAS Software. Membership in the Greater Cincinnati, Ohio SAS Users Group is open to all people in the Greater Cincinnati Area with an interest in SAS® Software. There is no charge for membership, nor any charge for regular half-day meetings.

We typically meet 2-3 times per year and welcome anyone who is interested.

Costs: The General Meeting on Thursday, April 9, 2009 is FREE. The SAS Training on Friday, April 10, 2009 is $99/Course.
General Meeting - Thursday, April 9th at 1:00pm: Kirk will present two talks at our first 2009 meeting: Advanced SAS Programming Techniques (1:15pm) and SAS Performance Tuning (2:15pm). Refreshments will be provided, courtesy of dunnhumby. Sign-in and Registration will begin at 1:00pm. The talks will begin promptly at 1:15pm and 2:15pm. The meeting will adjourn at 3:30pm.

Speaker: Kirk Paul Lafler of Software Intelligence Corp. will make two presentations:
1) Advanced SAS® Programming Techniques - 1:15pm-2pm
SAS users can enhance their skills by attending this advanced programming techniques presentation. Attendees learn more advanced programming topics and techniques in the areas of data access, data manipulation, data management, and data presentation. Topics include popular programming techniques including coding loops, ranges, and arrays; exploring the various types of join algorithms including nested loop, sort-merge, index, and hash methods; learning the techniques associated with building effective simple and composite indexes to achieve optimal database performance; and constructing table lookup operations with hash tables.

2) SAS® Performance Tuning Techniques - 2:15pm-3pm
As SAS® Software becomes increasingly more popular among programmers and end-users; guidelines for its efficient use are critical. This presentation illustrates numerous tips and techniques to control and manage program execution, I/O, memory, disk space, program maintenance, as well as the access and analysis of Dictionary table information for an understanding of performance tuning strategies. A collection of proven techniques and code examples are presented to illustrate numerous practical methods for gaining efficiency while using SAS Software.

SAS Training - Friday April 10th: Kirk will give a morning course on Proc SQL from 8am-12noon and an afternoon course from 1pm-5pm on SAS® Macro Programming. Because dunnhumby is providing the training room, Kirk is offering both courses at the reduced rate of $99 each. Kirk Paul Lafler is consultant and founder of Software Intelligence Corporation and has been programming in SAS since 1979.
