sasCommunity Tip of the Day
Elastic Net is a new variable selection algorithm proposed by Zou, H and Hastie, T (2005). This variable selection algorithm shows superior properties over LASSO and other older automatic variable selection mechanisms.
While this method is not readily available in SAS right now, it is possible to tweak PROC GLMSELECT in order to implement Elastic Net for normal least square problems. The core idea is to use augumented data for ridge regression and to leverage the L1 optimization capability of PROC GLMSELECT. See the link below.

Junior Professional Program for SAS Global Forum - Applications Due Soon

This is a reminder that the JPP applications for SAS Global Forum 2017 are due January 16, 2017.
This award program is for emerging professionals and is intended for those who:
- Are full-time SAS professionals with three years or less of SAS experience on a job
- Have never attended a SAS Global Forum.
- Would not otherwise be able to attend the 2017 conference.
What is covered:
- Waived conference registration fee, including conference meals.
- One free pre-conference tutorial.
PharmaSUG 2017 Paper Submission Deadline Extended to January 23
