Not necessarily relevant to this page, but the SAS Filename Extensions and Member Types support page is helpful for understanding the type of a SAS file based on the extension. Good idea. The article Folder naming conventions alludes to these file extensions but it is probably not the right place to explain them in detail. Perhaps this should be discussed as part of the LIBNAME statement, SET statement DATASETS procedure, FORMAT procedure or CATALOG procedure where the relevant file types are encountered. Or else we produce a new article that discusses how SAS stores its datasets and programs under various operating systems. - Cameron (talk) 23:41, 26 April 2017 (CDT)
