Did you know that PROC GROOVY can compile and run Java code inside a SAS program?

There are many useful examples of Java (and Groovy) code on the net, so you don't have to learn a new language to get new functionality in SAS.

For example, paste this Java code into a a PROC GROOVY submit block, run it, and you will see a directory listing in your SAS log. This is a trivial example, but there are thousands more examples out there!
