It is possible to indent text and to force a carriage return when using the ExcelXP Tagset.

To force the linefeed, concatenate the text string into your data value. This will work, as long as the PROTECTSPECIALCHARS=OFF style option is enabled. To indent text, concatenate 'A0A0A0A0'x into your data value:

data try;
    patchar = catt('mean', '
', 'std');
    output;
    patchar = catt('A0A0A0A0'x, '|indented|');
    output;
run;
