Tips Talk:Between and Within Group Counters
Good tip, but I would point out that there isn't any computational time gained, by using the method, over using an if first.id method.--Art T 18:48, 3 March 2012 (EST)
good tip if only for the head scratch potential.
Conventional wisdom or at least I always thought that the IF statement tended to be slower and that using assignment statement logic such as shown in this tip tended to be faster. Is my thinking flawed or has the DATA step processing changed? --Art Carpenter 18:57, 4 March 2012 (EST)
Note to Art C. Mike and I both did tests on the computational time. My tests were limited and showed the if statement to be faster and Mike's tests were a bit broader and showed that there was basically no difference. However, we still need another "good tip" comment in order to escalate the tip--Art T 18:44, 7 March 2012 (EST) interesting --Art Carpenter 20:29, 7 March 2012 (EST)
Good tip. Also reduced vertical spacing. --Don Henderson 20:54, 10 March 2012 (EST)
promoted tip--Art T 18:21, 3 June 2012 (EDT)
Went to promote tip and discovered that it had already been promoted--Art T 18:23, 3 June 2012 (EDT)
Input data not the same in the output table. --Ken Borowiak 15:23, 06 April 2013 (EST)
