I made a few changes to correct product names, but I don't know if "Framework" should be capitalized.  If someone verifies the .NET release info, I would say this tip can be published.  --[[User:Vince.DelGobbo|Vince.DelGobbo]] 21:47, 23 February 2009 (EST)

I would clarify the versions that this tip applies to: SAS Enterprise Guide 4.1 and SAS Add-In 2.1 for Microsoft Office.  Since our 4.2 versions are about to hit the street, we'll have a different set of instructions for creating/deploying tasks.  Important to note: tasks you created for 4.1/2.1 can still work in 4.2 - so don't worry about compatibility too much.

I added some more info about the 4.2 releases and how you can now use .NET 2.0 (and later) and the most recent development tools.

* Thanks Chris. The updates are clear and it looks like some nice facilities have been added. I think the point about being able to write a custom task and having it be avaialble to either both EG and AMO or specific to just one of them is something I've been curious about. Perhaps you could submit a Tip of the Day for that? --[[User:Donh|Don Henderson]] 15:31, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

Link Fix

I believe the "see also" link should be http://blogs.sas.com/content/sasdummy/2008/10/03/extending-sas-bi-clients-with-custom-tasks/. The current link no longer exists. --kimlebouton 19:25, 24 July 2013 (EDT)

Clarification on versions

I would clarify the versions that this tip applies to: SAS Enterprise Guide 4.1 and SAS Add-In 2.1 for Microsoft Office. Since our 4.2 versions are about to hit the street, we'll have a different set of instructions for creating/deploying tasks. Important to note: tasks you created for 4.1/2.1 can still work in 4.2 - so don't worry about compatibility too much.
