SAS AND JAPANESE?? SAS Programmer with Japanese fluency needed in R&D working with Clinical and Scientific Applications. Length of contract will be for 6 months with possible extensions and conversion to permanent staff for the right candidate. Duties include using SAS software to produce summary tables and listings of data collected in clinical trials, identifying data discrepancies, and values out of range. SAS Programmers are teamed up closely with statisticians and clinical data managers who request summary tables and reports for regulatory agencies and data quality. The team is currently 25 programmers strong.

Required Skills

Requirements include a 4 year degree, experience using SAS software to create tables and lists, and excellent communication skills. We prefer candidates be able to remain in the US on a permanent basis. Japanese fluency is required

THE POSITION

• Collaborate with others to shape data, modeling, implementation, and monitoring requirements • Develop predictive models using company accepted methodologies and tools • Develop modeling tool advancements over time • Analyze data, peer review modeling work, and assess model quality • Present modeling approach and results to clients • Fully document all data and modeling choices, rationale, and results • Monitor model performance and make model adjustments, refresh, and rebuild recommendations, as needed • Identify areas for continuous improvement and research • Create key statistical/data strategies for insurance lines of business, influencing business decisions, and driving great time to market

THE INDIVIDUAL

• Master's degree or higher in Statistics or related stochastic modeling field • 3+ years experience of hands-on P&C insurance advanced, multivariate statistical model development, delivery, implementation, and monitoring • Highly proficient in SQL and SAS programming and relational database querying and data manipulation • Strong conceptual thinking skills • High degree of initiative and personal ownership • Solid communication, client interaction, and presentation skills • Strong drive for results, demonstrating project discipline and timeline management • Highly collaborative with a strong team focus

Analyzes health related data for DoD military personnel, gathered from a variety of sources within the Department of Defense to assist with epidemiological studies and surveillance. Primary functions include the application of epidemiologic methods to the assessment of health and morbidity/mortality in defined populations. Contribute to a monthly military publication. Job Duties: As a Senior SAS programmer individual will work within the Global Statistics group in Rochester to develop SAS programs for reporting clinical trial results. As a lead SAS programmer, will be responsible for development and production of tables and listings for statistical and clinical report writing. Create/modify SAS programs to carry out the analytic plan; Execute (or oversee execution of) the analytic plan for research studies. Assess feasibility of analytic plan and timeline associated with analytic plan. Investigate issues with the data and report findings back to team. Serve as lead analyst on large studies that require more than one analyst to complete the work. Document steps taken and validate/crosscheck results. Draft and review methods section of reports. Serve as technical resource to other analysts. Present new programs/techniques and output methods to other analysts. Develop ability to mentor new analysts. Assist in development and documentation of standard table output methods and programs therefore.

Qualifications: Education: Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field Requirements: 4+ years' experience in SAS programming with knowledge of and experience in clinical trials. Proficiency in Base SAS and other SAS reporting modules, experience with SAS macros and SAS STAT/GRAPH also desirable.
