Job title: Principal Statistician Location: East Hanover, NJ Job type: Permanent
- Expert Statistician (TA)*
The Expert Statistician can assume the role of an independent Program Statistician for the assigned clinical development projects, or a mega trial.
Major Activities:
1. Be the statistical leader and project manager for all B&SR deliverables globally for a clinical development program or a mega trial.
2. Ensure that clinical development program (or parts assigned) meets scientific, regulatory, quality, and commercialization requirements through interaction with the IPT and ICT.
3. Perform matrix management of B&SR project team, and mentor staff as required.
4. Ensure ECD-Bios, and modeling and simulation contribution is fully integrated into the project.
5. Plan and track project level activities for B&SR including resources.
6. Establish and maintain project standards (master analysis plan, full development project specifications).
7. Plan and manage submission activities, like SCS, SCE briefing books.
8. Participate in /lead non-clinical project activities.
9. Interact with Health Authorities and external consultants as appropriate. Support and defend analyses and their interpretation at Health Authority Meetings, Represent Biostatistics at FDA Advisory Committee meetings.
10. Could take Trial Statistician responsibility as appropriate.
Education (minimum/desirable): At least Masters Degree in Statistics (or equivalent degree) with 7 years of experience or PhD with 4 years of experience.

Academically trained, professional statistician with a strong interest in medical and basic science applications.
This position is for a Ph.D. level statistician who will lead the biostatistical core for the CTSI, which will provide statistical consultation, collaboration, and support for investigators involved in clinical and translational research; this will involve supervision of master's level statisticians and database programmers.
This position requires knowledge and experience in: clinical and basic science study design; sampling methods; managing data collection and documentation; and data analysis using statistical techniques such as categorical data analysis, generalized linear models, logistic regression, survival analysis, non-parametric statistics, repeated-measures analysis, mixed models, exact statistical tests, and statistical power and sample size assessment. Previous experience in clinical trials research is an advantage. This individual will have significant involvement in developing statistical components of investigator-initiated grant applications. The ability to work with a range of investigators including new investigators needing mentoring in study design and study execution as well as experienced investigators is essential. Superb written and oral communication skills and an excellent facility with modern statistical computer languages are essential.
Responsibilities of the position include:
1) statistical consulting and collaboration for investigator initiated studies;
2) communication of research findings to internal and external forums;
3) supervision of master's level statisticians and database programmers;
4) teaching of statistical principles and methods, consistent with the expertise and background.
Position IV
Job title: Research Investigator Location: Ann Arbor, MI Job type: Permanent
Position Description:
Biostatistician to work within an established and exciting program aimed at enhancing patient safety.
The Patient Safety Enhancement Program (PSEP) is a collegial environment comprising over 20 MD and PhD research scientists who work to improve patient safety and quality of care. We seek a biostatistician whose primary role will be as a consultant for a wide variety of clinical research projects. This will include providing advice regarding study design (both trials and observational studies),power/sample size calculations, and all aspects of data analyses. This will also include conducting and interpretation of statistical analyses, mentoring research staff in statistical techniques, writing grant proposals, and preparing manuscripts for publication. Co-authorship on papers is both encouraged and expected.
This is a non-tenured track faculty position.
Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: PhD in Biostatistics, Statistics or related degree.
Desired Qualifications: Experience in clinical/health-related research including clinical trials, surveys, longitudinal studies, and/or case-control studies. Experience with writing grants and manuscripts. Ability to collaborate well with physicians, faculty, research personnel, and staff.
- Position IV*
Job title: Biostatistician Location: Memphis, TN Job type: Permanent
This individual will be a key member of the research team(S)He will provide knowledge and assistance in protocol development and in statistical analysis for our clinical research staff as well as for our clinician scientists and other principle investigators conducting research either on clinical or experimental studies.
Responsibilities include programming, analysis of data, graphical presentation, reporting of results, interpretation and explanation of statistical techniques used and making valid inferences. These activities are to be executed as appropriate under the guidance of the clinical research team, clinician scientist, or principle investigators. Direct communication with investigators is expected, and this individual will be working independently with investigators and other researchers.
This individual should have a PhD (preferred) degree in Biostatistics, Applied Statistics or a related field Highly preferable is significant experience in database design and use. In addition, a minimum of two years work experience consistent with that expected of a statistical analyst position is required (internships and assistantships apply).
Special skills, knowledge, and abilities include: Statistics/Methods (required)
- Familiarity with descriptive statistics and statistical methods such as linear statistical models (e.g., analysis of variance and regression) and analysis of categorical data and survivorship analysis.
- Knowledge of statistical software such as SAS, R/SPlus, StatXact, Stata, Minitab, etc.
- Knowledge of word processing software (MS Word) including spelling and grammar checking tools; knowledge of table creation; knowledge of other graphic software packages
- Knowledge of presentation software and other mediums used for presentation purposes, with knowledge of standard graph and chart types including scatter plots, line graphs and bar charts.Graphic software knowledge of programs such as Excel, PowerPoint, Harvard
Graphics, etc.
