Disclaimer for Expired or Closed Employment Opportunities

To avoid confusion, I wonder if articles that are listed as Expired or Closed Employment Opportunities should carry a disclaimer at the top saying that the opportunity has closed or is expired and is no longer available, but the page has been retained for historical interest so that people can see how the nature of employment opportunities are changing over time. I was thinking that an Expired message template saying something like:

Note: This employment opportunity has expired and is no longer available. It has been retained for historical interest only.
For current listings see Employment opportunities.

Any thoughts from others before I create a template? - Cameron (talk) 06:42, 14 May 2017 (CDT)

Good idea, please do. Adding this text to the category heading would probably also be helpful. --Art Carpenter (talk) 20:42, 14 May 2017 (CDT)
I have now created an expired disclaimer message template. Simply add {{expired}} to the first line of the employment opportunity article concerned. Including the disclaimer automatically adds the article to the Expired or Closed Employment Opportunities category. The disclaimer message now links the word expired to that category too. - Cameron (talk) 18:29, 16 May 2017 (CDT)
Thanks Cameron. --Art Carpenter (talk) 20:12, 16 May 2017 (CDT)
Progress report: Today I added the {{expired}} disclaimer template to almost 400 articles in the Expired or Closed Employment Opportunities category that did not start with the letter S. These are all minor edits so they can be hidden in the Recent Changes log. I intent to add the disclaimer to the remaining letter S articles over the next week, when I have some more free time. If anyone else wants to chip in, feel free. But please check the recent changes first, so you don't waste time visiting pages I have already updated. I have generally been updating alphabetical blocks of about 10 to 20 pages, since this is about the number of pages that appear on screen at one time and I can open without having too many 503 errors from the website. - Cameron (talk) 06:51, 17 May 2017 (CDT)
First, many thanks for doing this. Since we have a template for these pages, I wonder if it is technically possible to use the parser (or DPL) functions in the expired template to check if the page is in the expired category? --Don Henderson (talk) 07:13, 17 May 2017 (CDT)
Sorry, I cannot answer that question, as I don't know enough about DPL or the parser for templates. - Cameron (talk) 07:59, 17 May 2017 (CDT)
I got through the SAS_C... articles.--Art Carpenter (talk) 19:30, 17 May 2017 (CDT)

Remainder of S... has been completed, I think we are done adding the disclaimer. From now on we just need to add it to newly expired employment opportunity listings. - Cameron (talk) 18:45, 19 May 2017 (CDT)
Checked all the links in my browser that I had not previously visited in this category and all have been updated. Now that we have this disclaimer, we probably need to explain how to use it. I would suggest starting a new conversation, or perhaps even have a formal policy page in the sasCommunity namespace. - Cameron (talk) 20:56, 19 May 2017 (CDT)
Thank you Cameron for taking the lead on this. Nice to have this cleaned up. --Art Carpenter (talk) 17:43, 20 May 2017 (CDT)
