This paper discusses how to use many of the features in Base SAS to create data dictionaries and documentation.

Base SAS contains a number of procedures and options that make documentation of metadata easier than ever. This paper will discuss one method for creating a data dictionary using Base SAS, which will cover PROC CONTENTS, the Output Delivery System (including the ExcelXP Tagset, ODS TRACE, ODS SELECT, and ODS Output), and PROC DATASETS (including Extended Attributes).
