Data Analyst (Position 9700145)
Assists the Department with requests and technical support. Specific goal is to create system of programs to allow streamlined evaluation of multiple programs.
Required: Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in computer science plus three years experience in data analysis and computer support.

Complete Job Description:
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Writes SAS programs to provide statistical analyses, such as descriptive statistics(e.g., cross-tabs, tabulations, frequencies, means) and inferential statistics (e.g., non parametric and parametric analyses such as regression). Knowledge of data steps, macros, and statistical methods needed.
2. Creates system of programs to allow streamlined evaluation of multiple programs.
3. Collaborates to develop systems that make documentation of participants, record keeping, data collection, data management, and results easier for Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) central services and school employees.
4. Cleans and manipulates data; prepares data loads; documents programs.
5. Addresses data requests from WCPSS employees, outside contractors, and external researchers.
6. Investigates and reports data anomalies and proposes corrective actions.
7. Drafts tabular reports and summaries of results; may draft written reports as needed.
8. Trains and consults with Evaluation and Research employees or other WCPSS employees on use of tools for evaluation of programs.
9. Performs ad hoc and special request duties as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
1. Minimum of Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in computer science, social sciences, education, or related area and minimum of three years of experience in data analysis and computer support.
2. Master’s degree in comp sci. preferred.
3. Knowledge of data and information systems.
4. Ability to meet project timelines in an environment of multiple, concurrent projects.
5. Knowledge and use of SAS required. Use of a variety of software packages such as SAS/BASE, SAS/STAT, SAS/GRAPH, OS/2, Dreamweaver or other web-design software, Windows, SQL, ScanTools, Access, Excel, and Word are preferred.
