POSITION: Director of Analytics

DURATION: Full-Time, Direct Hire

LOCATION: Los Angeles, California

DESCRIPTION: This position is part of a Shared Services organization and will manage a team of 12-15 full-time resources. This team is experiencing substantial growth in response to increased internal demand for predictive modeling and decision support metrics.

This position is part of an reporting and analytics organization that is responsible for warehousing data, creating data marts, generating operational reports & scorecards, and providing analytical support to all levels of the organization.

The current environment is highly automated and is considered to be exceptional in the marketplace. We are looking for someone to take this service to the next level. This will require strong experience, exceptional business acumen, and excellent staff management and client management skills. The right individual should have strong analytical background as well as significant leadership experience with a demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of management – i.e. must be able to meet with executive management and formulate a solution for their needs based on business discussions and translate to workable requirements for analytics staff.

Qualified candidate should be a strategic and creative thinker with a strong ability to connect strategic initiatives to metrics in such a way as to use them to steer operational strategies to yield favorable business results.

Interested candidates should be able to provide specific examples of applying metrics to initiatives in order to provide clear value to the operational strategies of an organization.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Strong analytical & technical background.
• Familiarity with industry leading tools for reporting and analytics.
• Experienced in managing technical and statistical resources.
• Demonstrated analytical effectiveness.
• Ability to earn respect of subordinates/superiors through actions and experience. A high level of credibility is a must.
• Highly motivated with focus on business results.
• Trains the organization to manage with metrics.
• Research skills to develop predictive models.
• Technical skills and experience with accessing data repositories – this is not a hands-on role, but experience in this area will be very helpful.
• Must have strong executive presence and well developed presentation skills.
• A minimum of 8 to 10 years of management experience in Data Analytics.
• Expertise in Data Analytics & Predictive Modeling techniques.
• Graduate degree in Mathematics/Statistics from a reputable university is preferred. This is not a day-to-day statistical position, but we are seeking someone who has the requisite background and experience to interface with all stakeholders in a highly credible manner.
• Insurance industry consulting experience helpful.
• Experience in a claims organization – healthcare, personal lines or commercial lines property and casualty, or life insurance.
• CAS (Casualty Actuarial Society) Fellow or Associate designation is highly desirable.
