SAS Global Forum 2008 Conference Chair
SAS® Global Form 2008 is a wrap! Some 3,000 people are back at work filled with new ideas for using SAS and best practices to implement. Hundreds of papers were presented and thousands of interactions occurred between SAS employees, customers and partners.
I would like to thank our Gold and Silver sponsors for their continued support in 2008. I would also like to thank all the section chairs, presenters, volunteers and SAS. It’s been a great experience working with all these groups.
It is my pleasure to introduce next year’s SAS Global Forum Conference Chair, Lori Griffin of Quintiles Inc. SAS Global Forum 2009 will be held March 22 - 25, 2009, at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland.

As we begin the countdown for SAS Global Forum 2008, I wanted to give you an update on some new twists for the conference for this year.
SAS Global Forum 2008 is GOING GREEN! In partnership with SAS, the SAS Global Users Group Executive Board is committed to preserve our natural resources and be a good partner in the communities where we conduct business. In this same spirit, we are dedicated to implementing new practices into all aspects of operations and decision-making that will improve the environmental performance of our meetings and events. This year’s conference will feature such initiatives as, a reduction in paper usage with a focus on web-based information outlets, and increased usage of recycled materials, as well as environmentally-friendly formatting and packaging.

Registration has opened for the conference!
The online registration system is totally new this year. It has a number of new features that we hope you will find helpful. These new features include: the ability to log back into the system to review or modify your registration, separate meal selections for each guest, the Conference Plus package, and the ability to connect directly to the Housing Bureau at the end of your registration.

Also, new and improved this year are the SAS Industry Solutions. The SAS Industry Solutions tracks will feature keynote presentations, industry experts and thought leaders and will conclude with case studies in which organizations review their experiences implementing the proposed ideas and technologies.
This year we will feature presentations on Communications, Media, Entertainment and Travel, Customer Intelligence, Financial Services, Manufacturing, Pharma, Life Sciences and Healthcare, and Retail.

Call for papers now closed!
All the papers are in and the Call for Papers has closed. The section chairs are now designing an exciting program for our attendees.
It’s a busy time for everyone, but don’t forget that housing is now open. Just go to the SAS Global Forum Web site and you’ll find the housing link on the home page. All five hotels in the housing block are located near the convention center.
Registration for the conference opens on December 3. So keep making those plans and checking here and on the SAS Global Forum 2008Web site for the latest details.
If you’re like me, you can’t wait for the Labor Day Holiday to begin. But while you’re out soaking up sun, take a few minutes to plan your paper submission for SAS Global Forum 2008. The deadline, Sept. 17, is approaching fast. Remember, this year you can submit papers in the SAS technology section or the more specific Industry Solutions section.
Then present your paper at SAS Global Forum 2008, March 16 – 19, at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas. Submit your paper via the SAS Global Forum 2008Web site.
Mark your calendars now for SAS Global Forum 2008! This year’s event will be held March 16 - 19 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas.
Starting June 27, submissions are being accepted both for the technical sessions that focus on SAS software, tips and useful techniques as well as in the more business-oriented Industry Solutions section. Please consider making a submission within one of these major sections. All the details and the submission form are now available on the Web site. Papers must be submitted online on or before September 17.
While you’re at the Web site, consider whether or not you might be intereted in becoming involved as a session coordinator this year. If so, there’s a form you can fill out for that as well.Some dates to keep in mind
