LOCATION: Chamblee, GA
DESCRIPTION: TIGTA's mission is to provide audit and investigative services that promote economy, efficiency, and integrity in the administration of Federal tax laws. We detect and deter fraud and abuse in IRS programs and operations and protect IRS against external attempts to corrupt or threaten its employees. We provide independent oversight to the Treasury Department on matters involving IRS activities, the IRS Oversight Board, & the IRS Office of Chief Counsel.
The Information Technology Specialist applies new developments and theories to problems not susceptible to treatment by accepted methods. The work involves investigating a variety of unusual problems, questions or conditions that impact major Information Technology systems across organizational, geographic or programmatic lines.
This position is located in the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA), Office of Mission Support, Office of Information Technology, with a duty location of Washington, DC.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
At the full performance level the Information Technology Specialist
will perform the following duties:
- Apply new developments and theories to problems not susceptible to treatment by accepted methods.
- Develop and interpret policies, procedures and strategies governing the planning and delivery of services throughout the agency.
- Provide expert technical advice, guidance and recommendations to management and other technical specialists on critical IT issues.
- Make decisions or recommendations that significantly influence important agency IT policies or programs.
- Apply evolving technology to enhance the efficiency of Information Technology systems and plan significantly new or far-reaching Information Technology programs.
- Implement national level guidance for major Information Technology programs.
- Plan, schedule and carry out projects, exercising discretion and judgment to determine whether to broaden or narrow the scope of projects or studies.
