We create a separate trash can for each protocol when the protocol is created. We named them {Recycle Bin} so that it would sort to the bottom but ran into problems deleting files from here - we were told it was the braces. Nevertheless, I had to rename all our trash cans. The main issue we have run into is that eventually the trash cans get very large and so you need to empty the trash... just like in real life this is a chore.

We are trying to do this programmatically using the API macros but have run into some issues. One of the issues is that we only want to delete files after they have been in the trash for 10 days. However, when a file is moved to the trash it retains its modified date so if it was modified 30 days ago and you put it into the trash today and it gets deleted the next time the empty_trash program runs.

Our site rep gave us some code to do this - so the bottom line is that it is always more complicated than you initially suspect.
