What about rename Forums to "Forums and Feedback" and get rid of the "Talk to Us" link. I assume things on the main menu are somewhat exclusive, but the case here actually is that "Talk to Us" is a sub-category of Forums.

I also think the Forums home page could be re-worked. Could we see the categorized forums right there instead of having to click again?

The idea behind the Talk to Us link was to directly bring a user to the forum where they could make suggestions. You are correct that is is a forum and also shows up there.

The reason that the forums pages brings you to an intermediate page with some dicussion was to provide some explanation about the forums since we could not add any such explanatory text to the actual forums main page. We did that based on user feedback and suggestions during our pre-announcment testing.

This is a case where different users want features/capabilities that other users want us to remove. You can't keep all the people happy all the time J.

We are open to using other Mediawiki compliant forums software. If anyone has any suggestions, please let us know.

Got it. Didn't realize the forum categories couldn't be listed with the descriptive text. Makes sense.

Maybe "Talk to us" be made a sub-category of Forums on the L menu? Perhaps to get it to fit, it would have to be renamed to something like "feedback". I agree that with something new like this giving people a quick way to ask and learn about it is quite valuable.

My $0.02 below on how to maintain the usability goals of discrete categories in the menu and quick access to asking questions.

  • Events
  • Forums
 - Talk to Us (or Feedback)
  • Geography

Just one user's opinion... ;) I understand it is a community, but I'm just throwing my ideas out there!
