My role is that of SAS Systems administrator on a Business Intelligence Platform installation. ie SAS v9 warehouse set-up.

There are many aspects to the administration of this environment and many ways to improve your efficiency (Windows OS command line scripting) and tools within SAS that are not always utilised.

Can we please see a topic set-up for SAS Systems Administration - people could use this for the v9 BI platform as well the legacy version (cf another request in this forum http://sascommunity.org/wiki/Special:Topic/31) I'd like to see ideas shared and suggestions given in this area. There are some good white papers dotted around on the SAS Institute web site, but I think the format of a forum is well suited to this type of learning and knowledge sharing.

There is an immediate interest here in South Africa for this type of forum.

An immediate query is the one below, but there is no suitable category to place this in. Adding users user SAs macros (or other utility): On the SAS v9 environment adding users into the metadata via Management console can become quite tedious. this is esp. true when one needs to add up to 50 users in one go. SAS does have the mduextr.sas macro, which is useful for reporting on the current users and security groups setup in the metadata. I would like to know if anyone has used SAS macros to be able to add users to the metadata by utilising the open metadata code? I assume if the open metadata is used one could do this in any language; VB, PERL, depending on the developers flavour of coding

I've just noticed that there are macros included for this (new??) mduimpl.sas & mduimpc.sas. I'll try using this and see if it fulfills the requirement. In the meantime if anyone has had experience using these I would appreciate some insight or examples.

Hi,

I would also be interested in such a forum. It could also be divided up into potentially subtopics : 1) universal areas i.e. Metadata server, Security, 2) DI/ BI focus, i.e. LSF, Portal, IMS, etc and 3) a solution focus, i.e with MySQL, DDS.

cheers,
