Splitter transformation

This is a work in progress. You can contribute to this article.

The Splitter transformation in SAS Data Integration Studio uses a DATA Step containing subsetting IF statements to create one or more tables that are subset of a source table. Columns can be dropped but rows cannot be aggregated.

In some situations a Splitter transformation will have better performance than an SQL Extract transformation. This is because the Splitter uses a DATA Step to perform a table scan while the Extract transformation uses indexes and may need to create internal indexes to query the table.
