Why isn't IIS supported? This is a major issue IMO. - Alan

Who would want to run such a broken web server? --Statprof 12:23, 14 March 2007 (EDT)

Phil,

I don't choose which servers are run: I respond to my clients needs and they run IIS. Consultants rarely get to pick the technology. Since I work in the SAS/Microsoft world (which is the largest SAS world out there), most SAS customers run IIS. Hence, SAS needs to fully support IIS at every point.

[edit] Web Services

I am going to want to know when SAS is moving toward an SOA type architecture. Setting up the communication between all of these servers is an issue and I want to know when i can consume the services of architectural layers directly. Web services is the industry direction and SAS should support this consumption w/o putting in the layer.

For example, if I write a web site, I should be able to discover the available SAS processes, submit my request, and get a response. This is 1-2 lines of code in .NET and should be available. As it stands, the current architecture is hard-wired and outdated from what I have seen. SOA is loosely-coupled and aligned with the industry direction: SAS should embrace and support it.

[edit] Availability to Meet

Don arrives in Orlando mid-afternoon on Saturday but has EB meetings taking up most of Sunday and parts of Monday. Depending on when others arrive, late Sunday could work. Another option might be to meet for breakfast on Wednesday morning? --Donh 19:26, 4 April 2007 (EDT)

Dons suggested times to meet:

  • Sunday evening - late
  • Monday - breakfast or lunch
  • Wednesday - breakfast

Joe arrives early afternoon Saturday. I will be at User Group meetings Sunday afternoon and section chair meeting Sunday evening. My times would be

  • Saturday afternoon or evening, but doubt convenient for anyone else.
  • Sunday morning or late evening
  • Monday all morning through lunch
  • Wednesday breakfast, but must open section, so will need to leave early

Alan arrives Fri evening

  • Monday afternoon/evening are out. Other times are fine.
  • Recommend Sunday evening late.

Angela arrives Mon evening

  • Guess Wednesday morning - I have another paper at 10am. So we need to meet early.
