Talk:SAS 9.2 and SAS Enterprise Guide 4.2 on Windows 7
From sasCommunity
Thanks for this interesting and helpful page on installing SAS 9.2 on Windows 7. When trying to manually install the Microsoft Runtime Components (vcredst7 and vcredst7.1) the installation begins with a dialogue stating that the InstallShield is preparing the installation of Microsoft Runtime Components 7.0 and after the progress bar goes to 100% the window disappears. Sometimes a Windows 7 dialogue box comes up stating that the program may not have installed correctly and asking if I want to try troubleshoot. If I try troubleshooting the message is that the program is incompatible with Windows 7.
Searching on this program I find that certain files are updated with this installer and that the installation may not work if the files are protected; however it does not seem that any protection has been applied to them. In Windows 7 these files are tucked away in what seem to be very interesting locations, e.g. C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft.vc80.atl_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_8.0.50727.762_none_11ecb0ab9b2caf3c
Anyone have any thoughts on why the program may not be installing? As noted in the page, without this installation the SAS Foundation does not successfully install.
Thanks
R Perry
