Tips:Specifying a list of variables

From sasCommunity
Jump to: navigation, search

It can be very tedious to specify a long list of variables, so SAS has come up with variable list that you can specify for 'special' variables. See the example below:

   data GetMinimum;
       set Revenue2010;
       MinRevenue = min(of Revenue:);
   run;

The code would get the minimum value of all variables, in the "Revenue2010" dataset, whose name starts with 'Revenue' such as Revenue_Jan, Revenue_May and Revenue_Nov. In this example, the Name Prefix List is used.
